Dr. Shulman completed his fellowship in Sleep, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY. He served as Chief Fellow of the division, Prior to that he was Assistant Chief Resident for the Department of Medicine also at North Shore University Hospital. He graduated at the top of his class from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Neurobiology and Behavioral Medicine at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Dr. Shulman is Board Certified in Sleep Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. He is a fellow and a member of the American College of Chest Physicians. He is also a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Thoracic Society. He has published a number of articles and book chapters on topics such as Perioperative Evaluation of Sleep Apnea, 'Status Asthmaticus,' Infection Control in the Intensive Care Unit, Tobacco Control and Cessation, Pulmonary Rehabilition, and Advances in Bronchoscopy.
Alan Fein, M.D.

Dr. Fein received his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn in 1973. He completed internship and residency in internal medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx Municipal Hospital, Bronx, New York. From there, Dr. Fein moved on to a fellowship in pulmonary diseases at the University of California, San Francisco Cardiovascular Research Institute. He served as Division Chief for Sleep, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Winthrop Hospital and then for the North Shore - Long Island Jewish Health System.
Dr. Fein is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Physicians, and the American College of Critical Care Medicine. He is a former President of the American Lung Association of Nassau/Suffolk and serves on the national board of the American Thoracic Society. He was chair of the clinical problems assembly and recently served as chair of the American College of Chest Physicians' COPD subcommittee on the airway disease network.
Dr. Fein is currently on the editorial boards of Current Opinion in Pulmonary Medicine, Seminars in Respiratory Infection, and Proceedings of the American Thoracic Society. He is a reviewer for many journals, including Americna Review of Respiratory and Critical Care, Chest, and Journal of the American Medical Association. Dr. Fein has authored almost 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and over 100 review articles and book chapters on such topics as diagnosis and treatment of pneumonia, management of acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and tropical lung disease
